My first few Mother’s Days were disappointing. Not because my husband did nothing, but because they didn’t meet my expectations in terms of gifts and gestures. And truly, they still don’t, my husband still does the same thing every year. So aside from nagging that gets me nowhere or passive aggressive lists and hints that will piss him off, I know Mother’s Day is somewhat up to me to root out what I’m looking for and be grateful at every turn.
I don’t think I’m alone when I say that for most of us the day is about validation.
A break from the daily duties because we work so tirelessly.
