download (82)I consider myself a good Canadian. I vote, I wear little Canadian flag tatoos on my cheeks on Canada Day, I stand and actually sing during the anthem at games and events. However lately I’ve been supporting another country and not because I don’t love mine, but seriously this one rocks!

It’s the good ol US of A people. Yes, I am a Canadian cross border shopper.
Phew, that felt good. It’s like coming out of the closet, retail- wise.  I also buy chicken and milk there too. And my kids haven’t grown facial hair or unusual amounts of muscle.

Gasp! You might say. How can I support their economy instead of my own, you ask. Well I’ll tell ya, I save at least $150 a WEEK on groceries! A week people. I have two teenagers, one is a soccer girl who eats like a sumo wrestler and the other a growing boy. With the prices here in Canada they’d be eating KD three nights a week.

I love Fred Meyer. So do a lot of other Canadians. So much so that the kind people of Bellingham WA affectionately (?) refer to us as “milk nazis”.  But hey, we are supporting their economy so they welcome us with open arms and super cheap food!
My family loves diet pop, but we have switched to vitamin water. Know why? Because its cheaper than pop down there! Canadian prices for a single bottle are around $2.50,  good old Freddie’s sells it for .69 each. I can also buy a gallon (that’s four litres) of Organic milk for less than the same regular milk up here. Same with chicken. Don’t even get me started on the cheese!

So yes, I have fallen hook, line and sinker for the US of A. And when I shop for my Canada Day meal supplies at Fred Meyer I will thank the gods that be for nexus!

I am a professional in childcare and family management, very novice blogger and lover of wine. I am currently wrangling my own family of two crazy teens and a hubby wiith OCD and ADHD tendencies (the upside of that is a super clean house and meticulously folded laundry!). I also manage a family with four children under age twelve and two overworked parents, who are super lucky to have me. I tend to be quite bossy and love to tell people what they are doing wrong with their kids!
